Temporary Cancellations

Dear Friends in Christ,

With the emergence COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, we are concerned about our wellbeing and the wellbeing of our loved ones and communities.  While there are no reported cases on Cape Cod to date, it is essential that we trust God and be prudent. These days will call forth the best from us in terms of compassionate care for our neighbors, patience, and hope.  It is important that we be safe and play our role in ensuring the wellbeing of our community, nation, and planet.

Therefore, with an abundance of caution and compassion, the Leadership Circle has decided to suspend all programs held at South Congregational Church until Monday, March 24.  This includes all worship services, study groups, scouting, and twelve step meetings held in our building.  Our thrift store The Thrifty Niche will also be closed. This decision was made at the recommendation of the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ as well as several local health professionals with whom we consulted. We will reevaluate this decision by March 26.

We are exploring various forms of communication in the meantime.  Look on the church’s website for an audio podcast of sermons and prayers, beginning this weekend.  We will send copies of sermons to members who do not use the internet or social media. We will post sermons on the website. We are also exploring holding classes with Podcast, Facebook Live, and Zoom formats.  We will alert you about these opportunities over the weekend.

You can be sure that ministry will continue at South Congregational Church.  If you have pastoral care needs, contact Pastor Bruce at 508-240-4355 or 508-240-4355.  Also, take time to contact your friends at South Congregational Church to see how they are doing and offer appropriate assistance, if needed.

God is with us. “Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Savior.” So writes the Apostle Paul in Romans 8:38-39.  These words ring true and are  much needed these days.
