Music is a vital part of parish life at South Church. The Cardinal pipe organ from the Berkshire Organ Company and the Steinway piano provide full and rich accompaniments to the hymn-singing and the choir anthems.

There is a small women’s voice choir that performs SSA anthems which rehearses Sunday mornings from 9:00-9:45 AM and provides anthems for every Sunday except for the last Sunday of the month when the Bell Choir plays. New members are welcome to join the Choir, please see Music Minister Karen Crosby for more information.

The Bell Choir is running a waiting list right now for new members. Unfortunately, unlike a vocal choir, there are a finite number of positions. The Bell Choir plays with 18 bells and we currently have 9 members (two bells per person). The Bell Choir rehearses Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 and plays the last Sunday of the month plus for the Centerville Village Stroll, Christmas Eve, Easter and Music Appreciation Sunday. Please see Karen if you are interested in the Bell Choir. Both choirs perform mid-September through Mid-June.

Let us pray…
When in our music God is glorified
And adoration leaves no room for pride
It is as though the whole creation cried Alleluia.
How often making music we have found
A new dimension in the world of sound
As worship moves us to a more profound Alleluia.
Let every instrument be tuned for praise
Let all rejoice who have a voice to raise
And may god give us faith to sing always Alleluia.
