Blessing of the Animals

October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis, considered the patron saint of animals.  According to legend, Francis preached to birds and fish, and befriended a wolf who was terrorizing a small town.  Francis saw God’s presence in all creation.  Here at South Congregational Church we celebrated the Feast of St. Francis by blessings on dogs and cats on the front lawn and visiting a local shelter to bless rescue cats.
